Services
We endeavour to provide the full range of health care, including preventative medicine, maternity medical services, contraception services, child health surveillance and minor surgery during the course of our normal surgeries. In addition, we run specialised clinics, for conditions such as hypertension, asthma and heart disease. Please ask the receptionist about these.
Antenatal Clincs
The Doctors are involved in the provision of maternity care. You should arrange to see the Doctor of your choice early in your pregnancy. The Midwife attached to the Practice holds a clinic at the Avenue Ward Bridlington Hospital to undertake bookings and arrange for you to attend the Consultant Outpatient Clinic. Our maternity care is shared with the local hospital.
Cervical Smears
The Primary Health Care Trust uses a computerised recall scheme to ensure that you have a regular cervical smear.
Our Practice Nurses undertake most of the smears as part of the Well Woman Clinics which includes other health checks such as weight and blood pressure. You can make an appointment to see the doctor of your choice for your smear, if you wish. We do encourage you to have a regular smear.
Asthma /Chronic Chest Problems
Patients who fall into these groups are requested to have a regular annual review. In addition to checking peak flow, you will be advised on inhaler technique and use. Please make an appointment through the Receptionist.
Minor Surgery/Cryotherapy
The Doctors perform minor surgery in our fully equipped treatment area, assisted by our Practice Nurses. This mainly involves the treatment or removal of warts or moles or the injection of painful joints. You will need to see the Doctor first before making a special appointment for the procedure to be carried out.
Heart Disease
As well as general nursing duties, Sister Rosemary Robinson has an interest in coronary heart disease and respiratory disease and regularly reviews patients with heart disease.
Long Term Conditions Clinic
The Nurses now hold Long Term Condition Clinics which cares and reviews patients with more than one chronic illness. It is hoped that this clinic will better address health needs and encourage self-management of conditions.
Young People
We welcome young people who wish to discuss any problems eg. acne, weight problems, sexual health and contraceptive needs. Please contact the surgery to make an appointment.
Contraception and Sexual Health
We offer family planning advice during normal surgery hours, including emergency contraception. If you choose to use the coil method of contraception then you should discuss the coil fitting with your Doctor.
